Rachel Alarcio, Founder and Editor-in-Chief


Rachel Alarcio (she/they) is a Filipino-American writer hailing from the eternal sunshine of Los Angeles, California whose poetry and prose are published or forthcoming in two award-winning WriteGirl anthologies, The Lumiere Review, winnow magazine, Rogue Agent, Wrongdoing Magazine, Exposition Review, at LAX’s Terminal 7-8, and elsewhere. They are a 2019 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards Silver Medalist in Short Story and once opened for internationally-touring slam poet Caroline Rothstein. She attends Kalamazoo College where she pursues a major in English and a concentration in Film and Media Studies. In addition to reading your submissions to Quarterly West, she frequently plays paparazzi to her friends with her DSLR, can be found descending progressively down strange and entertaining Internet rabbit holes, and serves as EIC of Milkdromeda Review. We are looking for (1) your ability to judge and give feedback on art (your chosen genre/medium) and (2) enthusiasm about our mission and philosophy. None of which necessarily have to come from lit mag experience, but can.

Managing Literary Editor


Stephen Guy Mallett (he/him) was born in Maryland, and he lives in Quebec with his brilliant wife and their cosmonautical cats. He is the author of Disparate Logoi (Alien Buddha Press) and Markov Chainmail (forthcoming from Cactus Press). He holds a BA in philosophy from Concordia University, and he is a Manuscript Reader for Atticus Review and a Poetry Reader for Sepia Quarterly. 

Job: Ensures all poetry and prose submissions are read blind and get to their assigned reader or editor. Organizes the spreadsheet of feedback and responses. Rejects pieces that don't follow guidelines. Helps with outreach and soliciting submissions. A 3-5 hour per week commitment. 

Executive Literary Editor 

Elia Karra (she/they) is an author and filmmaker from Athens, Greece, with an MFA in Creative Writing from Lindenwood University. Her work is forthcoming or has appeared in HAD, the first Bullshit Lit anthology, Cease, Cows, and others. She can be found lurking on Twitter @eliakarra or at eliakarra.com.

Co-facilitates once-a-submission-period virtual in-consideration meetings with the EIC and Executive Literary Editor in which all the editors discuss pieces in consideration. PROSE STAFF


Prose Editor


Kim Schmidt (they/he) is a queer writer and artist from southeast Michigan. He graduated from Kalamazoo College with a dual major BA in psychology and English (with focuses in fiction, poetry, and literary criticism). While there, they were the fiction committee chair for The Cauldron, the college's literary magazine, and interned at OR Books publishing, the Franklin Park Reading Series, and the Bowery Poetry Club. They are now a proud member of the New School’s Creative Writing MFA Program with a dual fiction and poetry concentration. Emmy Teague (she/her) is a bisexual disaster who is probably reading comic books and eating leftover challah instead of writing or working on grad school. She lives in Cincinnati, OH with her partner and way too many cats. She has been published in A Siren’s Call and Hare’s Paw magazines and has short stories in anthologies by Dark Lake Press and Bag of Bones.

Prose Reader


Emma Fergusson (she/her) recently graduated with a BA in English from Kalamazoo College, where she also studied philosophy and film and media. She enjoys writing fiction in the form of short stories, plays, and screenplays as well as nonfiction in the form of film criticism. Emma also makes her own movies--most recently a documentary short about the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on student artists. She currently works as a post-baccalaureate fellow at her alma mater, and also serves as video editor at NYC-based literary nonprofit, Pen Parentis.

Poetry Editor


Savannah Dobreff (they/them) is a queer nonbinary poet, writer, and scholar from Westland, MI.  They graduated from Kalamazoo College with a BA in English (with focuses in fiction and poetry), and hope to pursue an MFA in Creative Writing in the coming years. Their work often leans into nature and the cosmos in their musings about queerness, transness, neurodivergence, and the social/ecological state of the planet. To them, sharing one’s passions and creativity with others is the way to not just understand each other, but to make our lives brighter and more interconnected. Find them on Twitter @scdobreff.

Ly Faulk (they/them) has loved reading and writing for as long as they could read and write. They hold a B.A. in Creative Writing. Ly is the author of the poetry collection Blood on the Vine and the upcoming chapbook Hope, With Bladed Wings.

Natalie Lynn Harrison (she/her) is a 37-year-old writer, wife and mama. She lives on a shady street in a sweltering Sacramento and cries frequently re-reading Sally Rooney novels. She has a certificate in Creative Writing from UC Berkeley Extension. Find her on Twitter at @nattywritergirl.

Caitie Biggs (they/them) is a nonbinary poet, artist, and musician. They have had works published for Michigan State University's Her Campus, the Scarlet Leaf Review, and Friends of Poetry: Poems that Ate Our Ears (2019), amongst others. Their pieces serve as commentary on mental health and justice, often adding a surreal spin on their own experiences. They believe all forms of art should have the chance to be seen and felt. That's why they joined Milkdromeda - to help build a platform for creatives to grow. Find them on Instagram @skadoinkadoink.

Sejuti Bala (they/them) is an artist and illustrator who did their Masters in English Literature from Jadavpur University, Kolkata. They have worked on several zines and publications including What We Create In The Shadows and Uncaged Anthology Goddesses Volume V. Halle Preneta (she/her) enjoys writing short stories and poetry and gets her ideas from random life experiences. When she’s not writing, she’s either watching YouTube or playing Animal Crossing. She’s had works published in various literary magazines such as The Hearth Magazine, Write Now Lit, and CP Quarterly and her latest chapbook “The Event Horizon” is currently out with Bullshit Lit. She is also EIC of Tyrian Ink, a press dedicated to publishing chapbooks written by LGBTQ+ youth. Social Media Manager/Website Manager


Kennedy Christl (she/hers) is an editorial designer from Metro Detroit, Michigan, with a wanderlust soul. She is a recent graduate of Kalamazoo College with a dual major in Biology and English, where she also gained experience in many different forms of media and graphic design. During this time, Kennedy has also had success within the zine/publications fields, as the Editor in Chief of Kalamazoo College's OrangeZest as her Senior Individualized Project (SIP), which is currently in the process of becoming a permanent class at the College.


Job: Upholds the Milkdromeda Review brand on social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn). Responsible for growth, outreach, as well as promoting and uplifting our contributors past and present. A 3-5+ hour per week commitment. Assists in optimizing layout (we use Wix) and SEO on an as-needed basis.


Staff Graphic Designer/Artist
